Rules for Lonely Dancers
It’s dangerous to stand too close to the river’s edge
looking for love.
Only a loon should expect kindness
from dank green water,
railings steeled
with despair.
Sail to Mexico.
When mariachi bands begin La Cucaracha,
even the shyest dancer can
sit in her chair and sway.
